I have uploaded four files that give an idea of what a fishbowl conversation as I wish it to be is. Over the next few days I will upload a few more related to money and present what I see the discussion will be like and where. I think that if we can do some good video we can get it posted and maybe even stream this.
It seems that two hours would be a good length. About 15 minutes at the beginning would be a presentation of the rules and theory behind the Fishbowl plus some introductory question or thoughts about money. If the Hours is involved they might also present some ideas and thoughts about money and their local currency they wish to have discussed.
There will be a seed group of individuals with some expertise or interests or knowledge of the questions and discussion ideas at hand and there will be a list of these distributed to all present. The seed group will be chosen to include different views and areas of expertise. Maybe even differing political views, this determined by talking and arranging with them before hand.
When the discussion begins, the group in the center will just converse back and forth in a casual but respectful exchange for some time and then after things feel right and there is audience interest one member of the group will leave and be replaced by a new person. This will proceed at its own evolved and self-organizing pace until near the end when we will break and have some informal discussion to be arranged yet.
My personal desire is that currencies and money be discussed to include and compare everything from barter to local alternative to national and even possibly what a world currency would be like. We should cover how and to whom new currency is distributed, loaned, or bought into existence and how accumulations in the hands of a few, accidental or on purpose effect the system and how distribution can or should be managed.
Talk about what value is as well as wealth should be touhced upon as well as fiat money versus gold based versus cash and coins. How is debt and money alike and what are the repercussions of interest charged or paid.
Obviously 2 hours can not cover all these ideas I have but with Open Space ideas in mind what gets covered is what gets covered and the questions left in minds is as important as the answers.
